Sync Generators for Audio Recorders:

Crystal control for your camera is only half the battle. Your audio recorder also needs to record a crystal pilot signal.

TX-10V, TX-10
The TCS TX-10 is unsurpassed by any other crystal, regardless of price, for the accuracy, stability and purity of its crystal-derived sinewave pilot output signal. A gold-plated switch selects 50 or 60 Hz and the output can drive a 600W (ohm) load.
The TCS TX-10 has an output level adjustment, normally set for 1.4 volts RMS. The frequencies are within ±3 PPM (parts per million) or ±.0003% and can be re-calibrated if ever necessary. Output harmonics are 1.2% for minimum crosstalk into the recorder's audio channel. Power can be 9 to 20 volts positive ground (as in a Nagra) or 9 to 30 volts negative ground at 5.5 mA. Board size is 1.5" x 2.4". Price is
$135. Shown at right is the TX-10. Typical installation in a Nagra 4/IV is shown below. Contact your dealer/installer for installation.
The TCS TX-10V is similar in appearance (same basic circuit boaard, increased crystal height, different circuitry),

and it outputs a single 59.94 Hz video related frequency. Price is $135.  Normally you would build this unit into a case with a 4-pin Tuchel plug and a power source. You plug it into the Pilot socket of a Nagra 4 recorder that is equipped with the QSLI module. For resolving to the 59.94 frequency, you switch to the SL Playback mode, where the QSLI controls the playback speed to give the required speed pulldown. For greater convenience we suggest instead buying the pre-built version below.

Crystals in a case
Either unit can be built into a box with batteries and battery test and with your choice of pilot output connector for
$288 on special order. Model TX10-BT is switchable 50/60 Hz.

Crystals for Self Resolving Nagra Tapes
For resolving tapes to Video or an Avid, to be edited along with NTSC tapes transferred from film on a Rank or Bosch film scanner, we can supply a 59.94 Hz crystal in a box and with AC power supply, also for $288. Normally this has a 4-pin Tuchel plug to fit the pilot socket on a Nagra 4 series recorder equipped with a QSLI Servo Lock module. For resolving to the 59.94 frequency, you switch to the SL Playback mode, where the QSLI controls the playback speed to give the required speed pulldown.

The model number of this unit is TX10-VE. These are currently in stock, or sometimes they may be built only on Special Order as there is a limited demand. Appearance is similar to photo except there are no user controls. Different connector types can be supplied on request.
